Commissions of vodacce and my Guild Wars 2 characters by the very talented Kme.
In order: Cael and Deirdre, Sonyanka and Aevar, Vesta and Silas, and Hadrian and Minerva.
For a self indulgent birthday present, and to commemorate the million years I’ve been playing GW, I commissioned iheartapostates to do a set of busts for my legacy characters. On the left are my main GW1 characters, one for each of the continents/places and expansions (Elona, Cantha, and Ascalon). On the right are their GW2 descendants, 250 years later, all with little backstories of how they came to be. So, Imani (v2) ended up being a direct namesake of her ancestor and is rocking the Sunspear colors. Hadrian’s ancestor ran off with a Kurzick (House Vasburg) and fled Cantha before the emperor went nuts and the border closed forever. Deirdre grew up on tales of the family’s trek from Ascalon through to Kryta. Well, most of them.
The one exception to the pairs being direct lines are the last set, Rhiannon and Deirdre. Rhia actually wasn’t the one I finished my Prophecies campaign and left for Kryta (I ended up making her brother, Corwin, for that). Rhia stayed behind (gotta love that Legendary Defender of Ascalon title) until the very end. You know what means?
I can’t stop staring at it. I think it might be my new favorite everything.
A million and a half thank yous to Charlotte for being an absolute gem to work with. I just love these so so much. Eeeeee!
I made Gregorian Calendar to Mouvelian Calendar conversion charts for 1327 AE. Please feel free to share and use this!
Esprits d’Orr : The Mouvelian calendar has 360 days. How does it match with our 365 days calendar? When does the Tyrian year begin?
Angel McCoy : The connection between the Mouvelian calendar and our real-world calendar is a practical one. Thanks to your question, we had a big discussion here. The Mouvelian calendar was established way back when Guild Wars was first being created. At that time, we had no idea we’d ever be doing Living World content like we are now. We’ve decided that we’re going to change the Mouvelian calendar to a 365-day year. Here’s the official in-game asuran announcement:
“Friends and fellows. Due to recent (amazing!) reasoning by scholars of the Astronomagical Society, we are pleased to announce that we have added the five hidden days to our calendar year! That’s five extra days we’ve recognized for you to advance your work before the annual review. Gifts and gratitude are unnecessary. We merely acknowledged them officially; we did not create them. May all your projects be almost as successful as ours.” — Mikk
Since Anet has switched from 360 days to 365 days in the Mouvelian calendar, I just split our twelve IRL months into the four Mouvelian Seasons. To me, that seems the most simple thing to do.
Why don’t I want to use Wintersday as a mini-season and add that as the missing 5 days?
- Because in game, Wintersday lasts way more than 5 days.
- Because Wintersday isn’t listed on the Mouvelian Calendar as being a season all on its own. It is mentioned as something that takes place to celebrate the end of Colossus and the beginning of Zephyr (the new year).
- Because I see Wintersday as a holiday, not a season of its own.
And now for something more positive.
Anyone else out there who does a lot of writing (RP, fan-fiction or otherwise) that centers around Asura?
I ran across this incredibly useful tool a few months ago; it helps a lot when I’m trying to make up words or names for inventions or whatever within my fanfic. You just click the button and it spits out a term. Some are really bad, but others work really well- so you just have to click through until you find something that works for whatever you need.
I love the fact this exists; I’m so terrible at coming up with technobabble and pseudo-intellectual sounding words.
Someone take me. Please. Anyone. I want to go now!
ALWAYS REBLOG SOCOTRA.
I love this place it’s amazing TAKE ME THERE.
Destiny will encourage players to collaborate through a system of rewards for positive interactions. In-game gestures such as waving and saluting are mapped to the D-pad, showing Bungie’s desire for improved cooperation and communication in game.
I made a completely professional mspaint graph about my experience solo-leveling a mesmer.
This is so accurate
Waypointing while falling in the Labyrinthine Cliffs seemed like a good idea until I had the most interesting glitch happen. I ended up stuck in the WP area, unable to move, and frozen in the falling animation. After a while it reverted to the more crouched animation. It was just embarrassing enough until people started WPing underneath me, and under my skirt. At least the asura had a good laugh.
